Microtron Technologies is a leading developer of advanced storage system technology. Microtron is a leading developer of advanced energy storage solutions based on patent-protected technology. Microtron’s energy storage solution is ideal for range of applications as it enables high energy content, high power, long cycle life, fast recharging, and unparalleled safety. The proprietary battery technology is based on a novel method to build high-surface area electrodes, which dramatically improves, by at least 50%, every performance characteristic such as energy density, specific energy, specific power, safety, cycle life, and charging time, all at a lower cost. The novel battery configuration is amenable to every type of anode, cathode, or the electrolyte and is “chemistry agnostic”. It is also suitable to build hybrid Li-ion/EDLC devices. The Microtron solution is the only concept patented to date that enables the best characteristics of both Li-ion batteries and electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLS) to be fully exploited. Furthermore, the energy storage solution, ESS, is integrated into a smart system comprising advanced controls, cell balancing, array of sensors that monitor the battery performance, and smooth communication with the user. Joe O'Shea is an expert in intellectual property, licensing, international trade development, joint venture structuring, innovation management and related corporate entity structuring for intellectual property commercialization, technology acquisition due diligence, technology valuations, inter-company and external commercial transactions. Skills include strategy development, business modeling, preparation, negotiation and execution of complex technology asset transfer transactions shaped around prevailing business circumstances. These include agreements which in whole or in part include the development of intellectual property (both individually and jointly), technology mergers and acquisitions, trade offset agreements, and structured financing terms and other intellectual property licensing. Current emphasis is helping technology start-up companies manage, develop and execute agreements necessary to bring their intellectual property assets to their full commercialization potential and assist their private equity and venture capital sponsors in technology licensing or the eventual sale of the start-up to an interested corporate entity. Previously, Joe worked at GE for 34 years finishing his career there as the Chief Innovation Officer & Managing Director, Ventures for GE Licensing & Trading. Thereafter he helped Danaher acquire innovative technologies as Director, Corporate Development - Open Innovation. He holds an MBA from Pace University, Lubin School of Business and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University.
Carl Eckstein is a former venture capitalist, and served as a founder and Managing Director of NextGen Capital Fund I and NextGen II venture capital funds; participated in 22 investments, mergers and acquisitions, and replaced the CEOs of three struggling portfolio companies, steering them to successful exits.
